Le Quart des Noëls 2019
Le Quart des Noëls, the plot where it all started for Pierre Menard when he created his winery in 2013. Le Quart des Noëls is a small plot of very old Chenin planted in the early 1920s on a hillside of quartz sandstone schist facing south towards the Layon, in Faye d'Anjou. Historically only the best plots are designated as "Quarts" in the region which suggests that this plot classifies as one of the best plots available.
Each of the hundred year old vine is indeed a monument in itself formed by almost a century of short pruning in fan goblet style and is a genetically unique individual, resulting from old mass selections, giving its complexity to the whole.
Only 1032 bottles were made in 2019.
