Pluton was conceived in 2016 when Pierre decided to experiment with small batch vinification with Chenin Blanc vines within Clos des Mailles. For this cuvée, the vines are on the crest of the hillside, where there is a very high concentration of phtanite on the schist. Phtanites are very hard blue rocks generally surrounded by veins of white quartz and are considered a companion rock of schists.
Pluton is named after Pluto which is a small planet that is outside of our solar system referencing the small quantities of vines grown on phtanite being vastly different albeit being part of Clos des Mailles.
Only 689 bottles were produced in 2019.
