Chateauneuf-du-pape Rouge 2023

Le Moulin des Saints is a six-hectare family estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, now in its third generation and working largely old vines. The appellation permits thirteen grape varieties and the domaine draws across the range, though the wine is led by Grenache with Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre behind it. Picking is done by hand and the sorting is careful, and the wine spends at least eighteen months in barrel before bottling. It is warm and generous in the way this appellation tends to be, with dark cherry, dried herbs, and the pepper and warm stone that come off the galets. There is grip underneath, but it is not a wine that fights you.
