La Belle Verte is the white counterpoint in Laura and Paulo's L'étranger range, made from old Roussillon plots on limestone, marl and shale. Where the region's whites can turn broad and heavy, this stays taut and lifted, which is the whole trick of good Roussillon white. Fermented with native yeasts, raised without fining or filtration and with barely any sulphur, it shows citrus peel, white orchard fruit and a herbal, almost saline finish. Fresh and precise, with enough texture to hold its own at the table. Serve it cold, but not so cold you lose the detail.

Pour it when you want something bright to cut through the heat.
Steamed fish, or Hainanese chicken rice.
Grilled fish, anchovies, or a plate of good tomatoes.

About L'étranger

Paulo and Laura are a Brazilian couple who moved to Calce, Roussillon in France. After many years in strategic planning for large companies, they started their winemaking adventure in 2018 with 1.7 hectares of Muscat Petit Grain, Maccabeu, Grenaches Blanc and Gris vines.

Over the years they purchased additional plots of vines with Syrah and Grenache Noir, currently they cultivate over 5 hectares of vines.
With the use homemade treatments like macerations, infusions, whey and essential oils they treat the plants. Paulo and Laura are in a continuous search to reduce or even eliminate the use of copper and sulphur.

They work as much as possible with local suppliers who do not use ingredients that come from petroleum for the dry matter (bottles, labels, caps, boxes, capsules) and work with small companies directly, and even use green energy for the website to move towards this conscious autonomy.
