Beaujolais Blanc 2024
Beaujolais is famous for Gamay, which makes this Chardonnay the quiet surprise of the range. Sylvère Trichard and Mathilde Sothier farm around ten hectares at Blacé, almost all of it Gamay, with only tiny plantings of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir alongside. Everything is organic and biodynamic, and the wine is fermented with its own yeasts and raised without fining, filtration or added sulphur. Savoury and textural rather than showy, with ample acidity and a creamy thread running underneath. A white that rewards a proper glass and a little time.
