Les Vianderies 2016
Jura, France · White wine
Les Vianderies is considered one of Pupillin's finest Chardonnay terroirs, gravel over ancient marl, a combination that gives both weight and a particular mineral brightness. Jean-Michel Petit ages it in demi-muids and lets it settle into itself slowly, which is why these wines reward patience more than most. With the best part of a decade behind it, the 2016 has moved past its youthful reduction into something broader and quietly profound: baked orchard fruit, toasted nuts, a waxy texture and a long saline line. A Jura white with age on it, and all the better for it. Give it air.
