Juliénas "La Bottière" 2018 Magnum
La Bottière is one of the named climats of Juliénas, older vines on granite with good exposure, and it shows the deeper, more serious side of Louis-Clément David-Beaupère's Gamay. The 2018 came from a warm, early vintage that gave balanced ripeness without excess weight, and gentle extraction in the cellar kept it lifted. With years in bottle it has grown into itself: richer red and dark fruit, gentle spice, a savoury core and the fine mineral grip that granite lends. In magnum it has aged more slowly still. A cru Beaujolais for the table, and for anyone who thinks Gamay cannot keep.
