Pinot Noir 2023
Pinot Noir is the quieter half of the red plantings at Domaine de la Renardière, sitting alongside Poulsard and Trousseau. Jean-Michel and Laurence Petit farm seven and a half hectares in Arbois-Pupillin, organic since 2010 and certified from 2012, with every parcel fermented apart on its own yeasts and sulphur kept to a minimum or left out altogether. The Jura gives Pinot a particular shape: leaner than Burgundy, more red-fruited than dark, with an iron and earth undertow beneath the cherry. Fine tannins, high acidity, and no interest whatsoever in being big.
