From organically farmed vineyards in Eckelsheim, Rheinhessen, produced only in the best of years when conditions are favourable, the 2020 vintage brings a touch more openness and integration, allowing the wine’s structure and savoury character to settle into place.

On the nose, it offers muted fruit, dried herbs, and subtle earthy notes, followed by a composed, finely textured palate. There is a sense of calm depth here with freshness carrying through to a long, measured finish.

Already showing beautiful harmony, Herr Kretz 2020 is drinking well now, while still holding enough energy to continue evolving gracefully in bottle. A wine that rewards patience, but does not demand it.

About Weingut Mann

Founded in the historic wine village of Eckelsheim in Rheinhessen, Weingut Mann carries a legacy rooted in the Mann family’s involvement in viticulture since 1699. Today the estate is led by Andi Mann.

Covering around ten hectares of diverse soils that includes sand, limestone, porphyry, and volcanic influences, the vineyards are farmed organically and with biodynamic principles in mind. Hand harvesting and careful attention to biodiversity reflect Andi’s belief that the health of the vineyard should drive every bottle.

In the cellar, Andi favours minimal intervention: spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, long ageing in large oak barrels, and wines bottled without fining or filtration to capture the character of the site and vintage. Across his range of wines are sessionable rosés, fresh whites and expressive reds. These wines are celebrated for their clarity, mineral energy, and sense of place.
