Qhimmel 2022
Qhimmel takes its name from the local dialect for Himmel, sky or heaven, and the wine leans that way: lifted, open, unhurried. Grauburgunder off Andi Mann's organic vines at Eckelsheim in Rheinhessen, fermented on its skins with indigenous yeasts and aged twelve months in neutral oak so the fruit leads rather than the cellar. Bright orchard fruit, ripe tropical notes and a gentle herbal lift, held together by a clean line of acidity. The palate is fluid and airy, more about movement than weight. This is the first bottling of the 2022, and it drinks accordingly: immediate, easy, gone sooner than you meant it to be.
