Chenzi

Chengzi Li grew up on his family's ten hectares in Huailai, Hebei — vineyards planted in 1999 to supply the big state-owned wineries, until a chance encounter with natural wine in Shanghai in 2013 changed everything. He took back the estate, stopped selling grapes, and began farming organically; by 2023 he had committed fully to biodynamic principles. In the cellar, nothing is added and nothing is taken away focusing on wild ferments, no fining, no filtration, no sulphur. The wines are alive in the truest sense: wild, honest, and rooted in a part of China that most wine drinkers have never thought to look.
