Narrow Path takes its name from the road Chengzi chose when he stopped selling his family's grapes to the state wineries and began making natural wine of his own. This is his Cabernet Sauvignon, grown at the foot of the Great Wall in Huailai, Hebei and farmed biodynamically, aged sixteen months in stainless steel so nothing comes between you and the fruit. Made as he makes everything, with organic grapes, wild yeasts, no fining, no filtering and no added sulphur. Cassis and dark cherry, a graphite, herbal edge and firm but fresh tannins, a Cabernet with northern China's cool-climate lift rather than weight. Give it some air and serve it at cellar temperature.

Cabernet from northern China, a colder place than most people picture.
Firm tannin wants roasted meat: Peking duck, or cumin lamb ribs.
Or a rack of lamb, with something bitter and green beside it.

About Gloriville

Chengzi Li grew up on his family's ten hectares in Huailai, Hebei, vineyards planted in 1999 to supply the big state-owned wineries, until a chance encounter with natural wine in Shanghai in 2013 changed everything. He took back the estate, stopped selling grapes, and began farming organically; by 2023 he had committed fully to biodynamic principles. In the cellar, nothing is added and nothing is taken away focusing on wild ferments, no fining, no filtration, no sulphur. The wines are alive in the truest sense: wild, honest, and rooted in a part of China that most wine drinkers have never thought to look.
